Description
The completion of this RECORD is evidence that a ‘Safety Inspection’ has been completed on the vehicle or configuration, that the vehicle or configuration is safe to operate, it has been assessed and any fault has been assessed as per the Risk Matrix. The inspection/s must include all relevant items as per the provided ‘SAFETY INSPECTION ITEM LIST’ listed within this book and this inspection must occur at least once or more per day worked. Any faults or repairs observed or required must be reported in the Fault & Repair Report Book.
Workers/Drivers must check the Fault & Repair Report Book daily, as part of the ‘Safety Inspection’. All previous recorded faults and repairs, either completed or being monitored will be recorded in that book. This process of communication is required between Managers, Schedulers, Workers/Drivers or competent/responsible persons to ensure all parties are aware of the progress of open or monitored faults and the safety of the vehicle or configuration.
During the ‘Safety Inspection’, Workers/Drivers are required to record any Faults or Repairs observed during any inspection completed and these are to be recorded in the Fault & Repair Report Book. The Workers/Drivers are responsible for recording and reporting faults to the nominated Manager, Scheduler or competent/responsible person within The Operator/Business, as per the instruction or training provided. The Fault & Repair Report Book page number is to be recorded on the ‘Safety Inspection’ in the right side column for administration and tracking purposes.
IMPORTANT – during any inspection, if the Worker/Driver observes that a vehicle or configuration has an open fault, contact is to be made with The Scheduler prior to commencing the journey. Faults or Repairs as observed during the ‘Safety Inspection’ or when being repaired or serviced, may affect the safe operation of the vehicle or configuration. Unsafe vehicles or configurations must not be moved or operated at any time.
